So check these out. These are perhaps the most sought after Nike Dunks of 2009. The inspiration derives from the movie, Coraline, directed by Tim Burton/Henry Selick, and the story by Neil Gaiman. "True to the film’s unique, handcrafted style, the high-end canvas upper features a turned edge and the black visible seam is hand-sewn, ensuring each pair has a unique, bespoke feel. The tonal contrast in materials and subtle, hidden details—not to mention the glow-in-the-dark sole—reflect the film’s sense of curiosity. The oversized buttons were designed by Henry Selick, and only exist on 100 pairs. The same artist who worked on the movie created the relics for these unique boxes. Fifty boxes contain actual props from the movie." - dubdaily.com

The only way to cop a pair of these is to watch the movie, Coraline, which comes out February 6, 2009 (this Friday). The rumor is that you would need to stay after the credits roll, at which point you will be presented a passcode of some sort which is used to enter the contest at the site: http://www.coraline.com (http://www.coraline.com) Once again, these CAN NOT BE PURCHASED at any retail store and can only be won through watching the movie and entering the contest. My guess is that there will be some sort of additional clues and questions required for the contestant to answer in order to enter the contest (reason is that people might try to cheat the system and have one person go to the theaters and text others the passcode).

Even if you're not interested or a hardcore collector of shoes, perhaps a sample of what these shoes will sell for on e-bay might convince you guys to watch the movie and possibly get your hands on these exclusives. e-bay link: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=coraline+dunks&_sacat=See-All-Categories (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=coraline+dunks&_sacat=See-All-Categories)

Unfortunately for myself, I'm not sure if I am able to enter the contest due to the fact that I have Army drill for this weekend. But hopefully this thread has sparked some interest with you guys. I mean come on - you pay 6.50 for a movie ticket and you get a movie and possibly a pair of shoes that are worth over a grand out of it. ;p

*Additional remarks: There are going to be only 1000 of these produced. 100 have already been sent as gifts to various people/companies.

Sorry bro, not really my style. Maybe it's a Vermont thing, but I see sneaks as a dual purpose. 1st they need to be rugged enough to climb mountains and warm enough in the winter. I know it's different in Jeresy, but up here it's really cold and we have higher elevation. BTW, I only own 1 pairs of shoes, I'm VT to the core. That's just me.

No need to apologize, and I definitely see where you're coming from. Most people actually prefer utility and operability over fashion and extravagance. Most of the time, I'm wear my tan combat boots whenever I need to run errands. Obviously, these shoes are for-show purposes. I would not be caught dead wearing the mouse/cat tails that attach to the end of those kicks. They are definitely collector's items on all scales - from advid movie fans to sneak heads; that's why I think these shoes are getting the attention that is is. Plus, I think those kicks would go well with any variety outfit, except for bright colors.

I've been trying to research if this contest is available to the rest of the world; so far it appears that Canada is included.
